If you received my email weeks ago about my values, then you may remember that I volunteer for a nonprofit in Sierra Leone.
I’m helping an organization dedicated to empowering girls and ending sexual violence in Sierra Leone.
โ
Over the last week, I’ve helped them do something they have never done before which is begin crowdsourcing online.
It’s really an epic step for them, as they’ve relied on local fundraising or grants before.
People like you and I can make a difference helping girls to have an empowered voice in communities that seriously need it.
And every dollar and ounce of energy that goes in is going to come out 10000x in results.
There are a lot of problems in the world, but this is one I really think that we can change.
Because western currencies are worth a lot more than the local currencies in the area, every bit that I can donate goes a long way.
And right now there is a special opportunity.

I don’t think that girls should have to be in environments where they have to trade sex for food or water, but unfortunately, that is the case for many girls in Sierra Leone.
โ
Her Future Foundation began with a man named Ariefa protesting child marriage, FGM, and the lack so many of these girls experience.
Since Ariefa, the creator stood out and mobilized both men and women in his community to support girls’ futures, they have created schools that educate over 300 students every year and that includes and uplifts girls.
In addition to many other programs to help women and girls, they help 80 extremely vulnerable girls who either do not have a safe place to live or who have survived violence or abuse.

Unfortunately, a grant concluded at the end of December 2021 and they lost a great deal of funding so I’m helping them to explore new ways of funding these programs.
At this time (March 22 2022) they have a huge opportunity to replace funding with a new set of donors, but first they need NGO registration in the USA.
The fee for this is $700.
Once they have that, they are eligible for 50,000 from a donor that seems very likely to provide them funding this Friday if they have NGO status in time. That’s enough to support all their operations to continue for several years.
I’m committed to helping them find this funding, and will be donating myself, but I invite you to join me in contributing and investing in the value of these girls.
In the place they come from, girls as young as 8 have been sold for $50 to be married to an adult man. This is not abnormal.
What if we said that girls were worth more than that? And put money into investing in their future to be safe?

My desire to rant on it is certainly lighting my fire–so maybe it’ll spread to you.
I’m working on my book Dark Legacies intently. I’m trying to make it part of a good series–unlike Game of Thrones.
So funnily enough I was thinking of GOT today and how badly it all turned out and I felt passionate enough to rant. โ What did I not like about it? โ โI will put my Game of Thrones thoughts and spoilers below this so you can scroll down below the huge spoiler warning.

1. Why was the love scene between John Snow and Daenerys SO boring?
They are both rulers. Daenerys blasts cities with flames!
I was envisoning it like they start kissing and the passion is so intense, John pushes Daenerys against a wall, she pushes him back and is like, “No! I call the shots. John! Empress trumps King,” or, “He’s like, well it’s my castle so you don’t give orders to me, missy!” Then they have a moment where it’s like tug of war, and then maybe something else happens!
“What would happen?” I was thinking, “Who is going to be the ruler of their relationship, is it Daenerys? She is bossy? Is he? What’s going to happen?”
I was pretty dang excited to see what would happen after all that time.
In reality, when they finally have the very anticipated love scene, all I get to see is a TAME kiss while they are lying down in bed fully clothed, like they’ve been married a while. It’s just on a bed so when they pan away we assume they did the deed.
That’s it???! This is an HBO show.
Very disappointing. I miss John’s first girlfriend, the weird thing they had was much more fun. โ
2. Specifically Daenerys’s ending.
Ugh. And everyone says, “Of course, Daenerys goes crazy and murders innocents rather than spreads justice in the end. She was always crazy! they say, “You can see the signs.”
No.
She was awesome. You can’t just flip her whole motivation for doing things (helping people and not letting horrible people get away with being horrible) and rationalize that really her personality is actually the exact kind of person who could turn out to be horrible without MORE set up than that.
If the main final, most important theme was that liberators are at danger of becoming tyrants and we should be wary of that…then there should have been some foreshadowing of that as a theme.
There was none.
I feel like the writers want people to swallow what they gave when they did it in a sloppy way, like, “Oh it’s all part of this really deep theme that we never mentioned before, don’t you get it? Aren’t you smart enough to see how we, the writers, are really smart? Huh? Of course, she just became a tyrant herself! Mmm. Yeah. It makes sense.”
To me they just threw that in there because they didn’t know what to do with her in the end, wanted it to be super dramatic, and they just live for making anything at all becoming a twist.
It was dumb. And why the story ended there and rather than with overcoming the freaking White Walkers, I have no idea.
If they really wanted John out of the way he could have bowed out of a crown by choice instead of being ended in shame as a girlfriend/aunt murderer. Sheesh.

3. The ending of the last episode.
Frankly I’m mad at George R.R. Martin for not outlining his series! That’s probably why the ending didn’t make any sense.
I know, I know, he says he’s a special kind of writer, he’s a discovery writer and they don’t outline, they just discover the story that wants to be told.
But would he really have wanted the end of the movie to be a stuffy tent where every one decides to put Bran in charge since Bran is now basically an emotional-less robot? There isn’t even that much conflict about it.
That’s it? That’s the final solution. It could not be more anti-climatic.
And the final, final scenes are Sansa rolling around the castle as the new dark Queen of the North because she insisted the North demands to never be ruled by outsiders again–which, okay whatever. No one really cared about the fact that they get to be special, maybe because they killed all the White Walkers, but whatever, the North. Fine.
The North splitting off was pretty insignificant, so I don’t know why those final Sansa scenes of her becoming queen were given so much airtime. Like should I be thinking, “Hooray! She has everyone who survived bowing to her now”? The shots had such a dark BDSM club vibe–but maybe that’s just me.
I don’t get it.
THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PLANNED BETTER.
If I sold an HBO deal, you know, and it kept getting renewed I would have anticipated coming up with a better ending to the series instead of this one.
George R.R. Martin had years to be ready to just jot down some napkin notes or even hire a consultant.
He still hasn’t put out any more books for like a decade even though the HBO show has been running the story past the point of his books.
I don’t think he knows what the hell he’s doing, because he doesn’t outline and got himself in too deep.
I don’t like outlining, but I’ll do what I need to do. A hybrid of outlining and not outlining.
The discovery writer thing is an excuse at that point.
I bet there were 20 fanfic endings or fan theories that were better than this.
So wait, I’m mad at both George Martin because I know he never outlined an ending (because if he had I doubt it would be so bad) and also the team at HBO that wrote the ending because he was too lazy to, or refused to, or whatever–because it was crummy!
Why did they make the final season shorter than the rest of the series? That was rude.
Probably because the writers were over it and wanted to move on to their next project which was Star Wars and would be getting better paid. They really dropped the ball on the ending.

So anyway, I’ll try to make the endings and love scenes in my upcoming Blood Witch series better than Game of Thrones! โ

Turns out we would be headed back together to the USA!
It made me think I would not be seeing any cherry blossoms like I put in my vision board. Aww shucks.
But wouldn’t you know it?
Before I left Japan, the cherry blossoms came out early. Earlier than they have in a long time.
So I got my wish!
In fact we seemed to follow the blooms, from Osaka to Fukuoka to Tokyo…then in the USA from Virginia, to Maryland.
Then a few days ago, we went to an arboretum in our new home in Madison Wisconson and we saw even more cherry blossoms. I now have pictures of cherry blossoms I actually got to see!
So what is next?
I am looking forward to a new season of stability after some very chaotic years.
Due to my calling to travel to Japan, even before the pandemic, I was living at the whims of the opportunities that came my way to get there.I had to surrender everything to go.
I moved living places over 5 times in 3 years.
I am not even counting the 5 or 6 places we stayed in the last month.
Anyway long story short, I am ready for a new energy.
A magical, blue-feeling energy that lets me shine all my light!
So here comes my new board! (First one in this post!)

๐ฎ A lot of people believe they are in charge of creating, and it can be really enjoyable.
But for me there is more to the story.

๐๐๐ฝ๐๐ผ LIFE IS A COLLABORATIVE PROCESS.
โ
It’s about:
๐น Giving and receiving.
๐น๐น Surrendering and taking control.
๐น๐น๐น Doing some hard things AND some easy things.
โ
BALANCE.
โ
I use what I am about to tell you to make progress with everything I create–my books, my business, my life, my relationships–but let me just pick one thing to illuminate my point.
โ
For example, one business lesson I learned the hard way is that my business has its own plan for how it wants to exist and grow. โ And when I don’t understand what my business is saying, I can lose an opportunity. โ But when I do understand…๐ธ๐ธ๐ธ๐ฎ
โ
My business is not just my creation, it has it’s own energy and it’s own design.
For best results I have to listen and work with that design.
It holds an energetic design of what it wants to become even when it is not physically formed yet.
I have to honor that I’m not working with a blank slate–I need to work with the blueprint that is already there.
โ
You wouldn’t take a daisy and expect it to become as high as a tree, right?
But I assumed that when I create something, I can make it into just about anything.
Now I think that’s wrong.
โ
๐ฅ Creations often have an energy of their own, with their own design and intention–I have to collaborate with it if I want to be successful.
โ โโ โ๐ฎ I’ve come to understand that this is a basic principle that can be applied to all creations.
I feel this potential bubbling when I work with clients on their book, business, nonprofit, or other creative passion.
It also applies to everything you do in your life:
๐๐๐ฝ๐๐ผ Some things want to happen NOW and other things want to pop later.
โ
๐ It’s extremely handy to be tuned into this as a multi-passionate creator, because then you always know what to do next.
โ
๐ฅ Just know that you can’t just FORCE things to be what you want–sometimes you have to listen and go with the flow.
And today I want to share how I apply this knowledge and what is going on with my creations now!

APPLYING THE THEORY
So are you thinking, “How do I apply this?” Let’s take my life as an example!
โ
Step one: Find your Achilles heel.
๐ First, let’s review what the default pattern is. This is always helpful to see where you tend to ignore signs. โ ๐ฅ Me? I’m a speed-demon in recovery.
When I was a kid I would walk so fast you would think I was running through the hallways just for the joy of getting to my class faster so I could read for a few minutes.
When it comes to creating, writing and living my life I still have that speed demon urge.
โ
๐ Step Two: Assess where you are and what you want.
See what you want to create and what is in the way.
I’ve traveled the globe in the last few months and finally gotten my first permanent residence in 3.5 years.
I’ve heavily invested in my Blood Witch fiction series that I am writing.
As soon as Book 1 is out, I can earn money back from it. YAY! I want this ASAP.
I can also make money with my business and am planning to sell something new soon.

๐ Step Three: Note what’s in the way.
Long story short, Book 1 has been slowed down because I had to do other things for books 2 and 3.
My editor wants Book 2 by the end of the month but I have to figure out all the revisions for Book 1 to make sure Book 2 is correct…
I also want my business to grow by enrolling new clients and launching my 7 Week Psychic Mermaid Course.
Marketing is a lot of work and trying to grow my business will probably take over my life.

๐ Step Four: Notice the shift of external events and how they make you feel.
I’ve had bad internet for weeks and couldn’t do a ton with my business.
I used that time to get on a roll writing my books, though, so I have momentum now.
Business coaches of mine are teaching marketing at the end of the month. I want to hear their thoughts before putting out my course.
My writing mentor is out for a few weeks so I can stop working on outlining book 3. I can work on Book 1 and 2 without distraction.
Some client work is slowing down so I have less on my plate to edit for her.
My editor wants my second book at the end of the month.
I’m actually kind of okay with making less income right now in the short-term so I can focusing on the books as a long-term investment.

๐ Step Five: Communicate with your projects by journaling with them or doing energy work.
โ
These days, it doesn’t take me long to get on the wavelength because it is a regular practice for me.
I don’t really need to “do” much, it’s an inner shift.
For now I’ll just say–I have communed with my book and business and I have a pretty good sense of what’s going on here.

๐ Step Six: Make your conclusion and set your intention, even if it is different than your original plan.

Things are shifting in the universe and I sense an opportunity to catch the winds coming my way.
This is a set up for some sweet, sweet gliding.
๐ฅ The books want my focus!!!!
So the Psychic Mermaid 7 Week course launch is now postponed a little bit longer.
My original goal was that now that I’ve moved into a permanent home, I’d rush right into the promotion of my course for entrepreneurs, writers and creators on the energetic secrets to inspiration, clarity and momentum.

๐น But lately I have been getting a different message.
All these things are coming off my plate for a reason.
๐ฎ Plus, something about being anchored makes it a little easier to hear my intuition, since there is not as much chaos.
โ
I’ve gotten really used to chaos. It’s been a chaos for a long time.
๐ฅ Continuing with my original plan would speed-demon fueled chaos.
But, lol, as they say, “Not today, satan!”
I know my patterns and I have my eye out for them.
โ
๐ Because it turns out the spirit of my business and my new course really aren’t in that much of a hurry.
They want me to take the time to do it the right way and not just throw it out into the world.
๐น Nestle it into the world.
๐น Enjoy the dance of it all.
๐น Do things in the order that feels more peaceful.
โ
And I’m reluctantly deciding that they are right.
It’s a hell of a stretch for me to slow down sometimes, but The Psychic Mermaid Course will not be opening in May, and perhaps not even in June.
I’m eager to get it out there ASAP but we will see what ends up getting created, when.

๐น So in sum, my intention is that for the remainder of May, I am taking a step back from other things, and setting my focus on revising Book 1 and 2 of the Blood Witch Series.
It’s the opposite of my plans and honestly it feels hella indulgent.

๐ฎ But when I start listening to the things I am creating…that is when the magic really happens. โ

You have to work with the things you are creating! And listen to their guidance, not just do it your way.

Today, I want to make a note about how I see surrender when it comes to boundaries,
AND
share some awesome and inspiring quotes that people really like.
?I used to feel like I had to be strong all the time–I had relationships where I was the rock and everyone would lean on me.
That came from the way I grew up, where trying to be in control and be strong against a torrent of negativity was how I got through a lot of intense things.
And it feels good to help people.
But the problem was that it was really wearing me down. Turns out this approach does’t really work for me.NOTE: This includes not just people in my life, but also my business work, my writing, and interactions on social media.
And the only want to get out of it was to change, and I was afraid everything would come tumbling down.
But finally it all was just too much to hold up and I had to let it drop.
?
So what happened when I collapsed and let things go?
Some relationships and projects were unfixable and I had to end my involvement in them.
Some of those relationships were fixable when I changed them to fit new boundaries.
?
But my favorite thing that happened was:
in the empty space, I drew in some new relationships and projects that started giving me support and energy, rather than always requiring it to be the other way around.
Like my adorable fiance! And now we are in love.
I say this because when it comes to boundaries, you may think surrendering means letting people walk all over you.
I see it as the opposite.
For me, surrendering really means accepting that I need boundaries, accepting how I work is not going to change that much, and figuring out when I need to just listen to myself versus approaching life as a “grit and bear it” process.
Trying to change myself so that I fit XYZ situation–like when I was trying to be strong–is actually me trying to be in control.
It is me grasping. It is me contorting. It is me people pleasing. It is me trying to be perfect.
It is me hiding behind who I think I need to be, instead of surrendering to who I am.

Letting myself
rest when I need to,
pursue writing and creative projects I like that the whole world might not like,
change my business model to fit the real me and the way I like to work instead of how other people do it.
HAS CHANGED MY LIFE.
FOR THE BETTER.
