It can be hard having allergies to wheat and soy in Japan. Some of the ingredients for recipes I like in America are not readily available here.
In the past my fiance and I have gotten very bored of our food options. I knew it coming into the country.
Over the last year my fiance has noticed feeling better eliminating the same ingredients as me and there are a few other things he doesn’t like, like everyone. So we work around our individual needs.
I prefer cooking as part of a team. When I was alone in the US I was very unmotivated to cook. I missed it being for the two of us and having help.
But now we are a team again and I want to keep trying to make food a focus.
It is a part of a greater goal of taking it slower in my life, creating, writing, and business.
Honoring the natural, healthy pace of my life.
How about you? Is food something you think much about?
I used to get down about not being everybody’s cup of tea but what I have realized is that the people who are into me are REALLY into me.
Take dating. I used to get down about: -Guys who took forever to call me. -People who went out a few times and then just didn’t seem as into me as I was I to them. -The weird vibe where things just did not feel like enough, giving me anxiety.
Then there is business: -People who scroll on by. -People who looked at my stand at a fair silently or saying, “hmm,” before walking away. -Trying to come up with offers everyone can say yes to and then getting low engagement.
As a writer when I wrote my book Freedom Year, these things were in my mind making me think:
-Should I write that? -Should I go there? -What if people do not like it? -Or do not get it? -Or immediately dismiss me for being too spiritual, too weird for talking about trying to be a dominatrix, too out there for sharing about LSD…
Well screw it!
Because when I started dating at 30 after a long hiatus I realized that the people who were into me were REALLY into me.
I realized the writers and businesses I follow GO there. They go into those topics I was not sure about.
I found from experience that when you go there, you speak to the people ready to applaud you for going there.
You stand out.
You magnetize the people who get you.
Then you have a community to support you being more you.
That is more support for everything you create, your book, business, whatever.
And the very best part is you get to be all of yourself from start to finish.
I have no regrets about publishing Freedom Year and have found when I go there on social media, with clients, with my business, good things keep happening.
And I feel like a complete, fully expressed human.

This whole 2020 has been such a journey of love and joy. Joy was my word of the year and I just want to reflect that I’ve never felt so much joy. This year I have also felt some incredible lows, but I’ve really felt how important connection is.
I thought I understood that before, but this year was different. I really made connections in a deeper way, with my fiance. I also made deeper connections with my wonderful roommates, friends and family.
And I realized too, just how important it is for all of us to connect. In these last few months I created a group called the Creative Vision and Action Community. And I’ve been seeing how other people in the group are benefiting so much from connections. It seems like something beyond me now.
So, anyway, it’s been a beautiful, crazy, wonderful year. And it’s taught me that the real value of writing and creating, which is a passion of mine that I’ve been talking and blogging about for a decade–The real beauty of it is that it helps you connect to yourself.
Secondly, it helps you connect that self to others who really understand.
Whether:
-You’re an entrepreneur that just wants to sell your services and hopes that someone will appreciate your gift,
-You’re a person who feels unheard and unseen or lost in a dark place, sometimes feeling small or powerless in this situation that we find ourselves to be today,

Lately, I have been feeling so connected and held, and I know it is partially because I have been putting so much of my soul out through my book, writing, business, and other things, but the other part of it is that you are so freaking awesome that you get it!!

What if facebook or instagram deleted you tomorrow? Or everyone left the apps?
Sites like instagram and facebook could pull the plug on you any day. I am hearing from business owners who are losing huge followings from this.
Many users are wary of new policy changes where instagram is going to crack down on certain kinds of content, or they worry about data collection and do not want to use the app anymore.
Stuff like this is out of your control.
You know what is not out of your control?
-Having your own website where people can go to find you.
-Having your own blog where you are free to say or post what you want.
-Having an email list where you can communicate with people who want to hear from you.
Although social media is a great way to connect with people, it is limited because it is out of your control.
If you are serious about wanting to build a following or be professional as a writer or entrepreneur, then a site, blog, and email list are a must.
You can use the same content BUT it is all under your control and you will not wake up to have a 3rd party delete all your hard work.
Maybe you have waited because you think you need to have the perfect words for your site, the idea for how it should look, or the perfect free gift.
But I think you just need to do it.
If you haven’t set yours up yet, it is time.
I want you out there sharing from your soul, and sharing your gifts for the people who get you to enjoy.

– As a kid, I got shipped off to Italy regularly to see my grandma. I got comfortable flying alone but it was really lonely since I didn’t know the language well enough to communicate with her.
– When I was bored I would read lots of books, and eventually, I started wanting to write them. I especially liked magical women in fantasy, memoirs where people were real about their struggles, and spiritual nonfiction from the New Age shelf.
– My first job was unloading bundles of magazines from my dad’s car when I was about seven. (It’s part of the family business.) I got .10 cents for every bundle.
– Both sets of my grandparents started businesses that still employ my family members to this day. I took that kind of lifestyle for granted, like that my dad could go to the post office whenever he wanted to, that he wrote off certain things as deductions, and that he didn’t have a boss.
-As a teenager, I wanted to be a diplomat, so I could travel the world, learn languages, and create world peace through global cooperation.
Once I graduated with a degree in Politics, I realized I was “too sensitive” to work for the government. If the USA ever declared war, I’d have to tell everyone I supported the war as part of my job, and I wasn’t okay with that.
I spent my Freedom Year—the year after college which I wrote a book about—feeling lost and unsure of my place in the world as I tried exploring new possibilities. I wanted to do something creative where I could help others without having to censure my true voice or sacrifice my beliefs.
Eventually, that led me to start my own business. Now I write books and songs. I coach other sensitive people to make faster progress writing and creating, and to be more themselves in their life or business. Some make books, poems, videos, webpages, marketing launches, or business offerings.
I believe that if you feel powerless that the world doesn’t understand you or feel like you aren’t meant to be here (like I used to), you can use your creative power and true voice to make the world you WANT to live in a reality. In fact, that is your purpose.

So all in all, I got many of my childhood dreams. All these little facts about me led me to where I am today.

What are 1 to 5 random facts most people don’t know about you?
Its 7:40 am in Korea and I am overcoming obstacles like nobody’s business.
I am already done my most important thing for the day. One step closer to seeing my fiance–we have been in different countries for almost six months due to covid travel restrictions that only just changed.
I took a step towards reuniting with him today despite a million obstacles.
Even when the websites were crashing for two airlines,
When I woke up and called the office in another timezone and they said actually we can’t book you on the weekend,
When this whole journey meant moving with a months notice and 20 billion details to sort out–some are expensive,
When other people are not sure it’s a good idea,
When most but not all of the immigration and embassy officials we talked to said I could do it successfully (and sure that is freaky),
When I have to quarantine alone in korea for two weeks just to try to enter Japan to see my fiance and fingers crossed I get allowed in… I am fucking doing it. That will not stop me dammit.
This am I got my tix to Japan to see my fiance on December 24th.
It was not easy. It should have been but just this step took like 4 hours and I was frustrated af.
But sometimes hard things pay off. Just because life throws obstacles at you does not mean it is not “meant to be.”
Knowing the difference is tricky at times.
That’s why I like helping people hear their intuition and connect to their power.
When you know how to hear your intuition you know what to do next.
When you feel your creative power, this shit will not stop you. You will be determined when you got to be. And if you got to let go, you let go, but only then.
