et me tell you a Halloween tale..
There once was a witch born in a nonmagical world. Part of her remembered another time and another way to live, but she couldn’t put her finger on it.
Oh how she ached for sparkles and inspiration to fly all around her like tiny motes or fireflies and change her life forever. There was so much she wanted to be, to have, to enjoy, and it felt far away. No one seemed to wonder or wander like she did– and after all her chores and labor, when she looked
in her empty coin purse and felt cold, she had to ask the moon at night,
“Am I doing this right?
Or am I doing this all wrong?
Do I even belong here?”
She spent years not realizing the true extent of her powers, although she
learned everything she could. Something still seemed to be missing.
Deep down a part of her knew that when she and her powers were fully
expressed, she would be able to change the world.
For the better of course! Because this witch was a lightworker, a world server:
one who longed to good and never to harm. She thrilled at the smiles on
other people’s faces and thought of ways to help many people in the village.
Sometimes when she looked out her window at nature, in between the
branches of the old tree, she could see the stars twinkling or the sun shining.
And on those days, she knew magic was real.
But often she doubted–the existence of magic in a world that seemed harsh
at times, and if this village was a place where she could be fully expressed
and accepted. She doubted most of all if there was any way for a simple
village girl like her to do anything to really help people.
As it neared Halloween, she looked firmly in the mirror and made a decision.
She decided to take a chance. This year she would go as herself! Her real self.
And as she doned her magical hat, took her cleansing broom
our for a ride in the town, the people clapped and applauded and most
precious of all– smiled with love in their eyes as they witnessed her
arrive as her true self.
Her heart grew bigger than ever before, as she realized there was a new
way to live. A way that honored everything she was born to be.
As she worked her light she felt free and open, excited about life like she
had been as a child.
And this time, as she went through the time working her magic, people handed
her golden coins of chocolate, and the juiciest apples: just and equal
payment in return for the magic that poured naturally from her
and lifted everyone’s hearts in joy.
Oh, what a lucky witch she was. and as the veils between the worlds
thinned, she heard the whispers of her ancestors encouraging her on,
felt the tug of the angels promising rewards, saw the smile of the goddess
in the moon, and followed her heart pulling her deeper on the magical
path ahead.
She followed the path and began to trust it even though only her eyes
could see it, and then, she could only see and walk one step at a time.
But she knew it was full of light, and that’s all she needed to know
to act, to speak, to move with the magic dancing in her life.
So little witch,
Who do you decide to be on Halloween?

Will you open your heart to grow into your fullest self
and see magic play in your life?
