It’s been a long 6 months since the summer when my dad died, I can definitely agree with this quote I found on my @yogitea bag just now.
Gotta drink that tea in the winter, ya’ll.
It is still winter in Madison, Wisconsin. Yesterday the snow melted off my balcony for the first time since Christmas, but then it snowed again last night. Now it is a really sunny, pretty day.
Back to the past 6 months.
I have cried through a million tissues, been angry, felt like exploding, and other a lot of nasty stuff.
Working my butt off on so many estate responsibilities. So much intense garbage.
Needless to say, I am happy that piece by piece my freaking sanity has been coming back to me lately.
My anxiety has reduced some days and I am seriously shocked because it has been just that prevalent.
Feeling the anxiety recede, I think, “Is this a change? Or is this just an off day?”
What has helped it all has been time, yeah, but also something else.
Just plain putting myself FIRST.
-I do not shrink from the world letting life happen to me.
-I speak up about my boundaries.
-I give myself room and grace because I love myself and I am on my side.
I am here to live. I will make use of the life I have. I will survive and I will thrive.
End of story.
I hope this inspires you if you are a sensitive person who could easily put yourself last.
We need you. Keep working to find the balance you need to shine.

Contact Me and get more people to treasure your gifts.
as you are creating something, learning something, trying it out, crafting it, making it great,
you might give it away or show it to people for free and that’s fine…
Then, as soon as you start thinking about selling the thing you love, things get so much harder.
Maybe:
you stop talking about that thing you are passionate about because you are waiting for some qualification to sell it.
you get discouraged because you share your passion and nothing happens: no sales, or very few.
Maybe you sit on the idea for your website for a year or more because you don’t know how to put yourself out there the right way to do this professionally.
Maybe you blow up with success but then immediately tank emotionally.
All you wanted to do was give the world your gifts and talents, maybe help some people or make them smile, and live the good life flopping on a beach.
Is that too much to ask?!
Well, I haven’t given up hope it is possible for you but I know it is not always a walk in the park getting there, especially doing it on your own.
>>For highly sensitive people, empaths, people with ADHD, the experience of being rejected, or having something flop is PAINFUL.<<
This can hold you back from selling from your passions.
And if you are doing work you don’t care that much about, it’s can be less painful, or at least a different kind of painful.
But what if what you are really here to do isn’t going to get done if you don’t find a way to move forward?
To overcome the fear of selling your stuff and all the crap that comes with it!
New video out! I’ll tell you about the 3 major areas I notice people struggling with fear when they are selling their stuff–
it can happen at the beginning,
during the process and
even after you have been successful.
I know because I lived it!
Doing a creative job that I care deeply about hasn’t been easy, but somehow I haven’t given up by now, and I don’t want you to either.
I’m going to be sharing more on this topic, too.
Lessons I’ve learned in my journey of 9 years in business selling all kinds of things–
They helped me sell my passions so I could travel and meet my fiance.
I’ve helped entrepreneurs and writers around the world sell their stuff as a professional marketing consultant and copywriter for hire.
By the way I’m super sensitive, trauma-ridden, “maybe I have ADHD I dunno”, kind of person.
So if you resonate with any of that, I hope you know that:
you can still make a career out of what you love, even if it hasn’t been easy so far.
Even if you get freaked out or stalled or overwhelmed
You can still hack this.
Are you a sensitive or multi-passionate entrepreneur, coach, writer, healer, teacher, or intuitive?
Do you want to sell something you are passionate about?
If you want people to be excited to sign up for what you offer, I’m excited to offer a new super-deep level of support:

Don’t give up on something that matters for you to share. You are not alone.
We are all out here trying to do difficult stuff and it might look easy on the outside.
But it isn’t always easy. It is ok if it is hard to show up or if you need to take a break.
Do what you need to do and come back to it when you can.
And sometimes you do have good stuff happen!
For example I have been making youtube videos for a long time.
I do not always get a lot of views but I still like creating and sharing on my YouTube channel.
One video I made in 2014 “the breakdown before the breakthrough” suddenly started blowing up.
For several months, tons of people are watching it and I keep getting new subscribers.
I’m reaching new people with my message and maybe some of those people will stick around so I can serve them in a bigger way.
That’s powerful!
Morale is: You never know when something will work out in a positive way.
So keep going!
YUP I’m still pursuing my dreams and trying to connect with people despite being sensitive to rejection.
I just keep trying!!
Get back up on that horse.
P.S. I’ll soon be opening up spots for Your Mermaid Treasure VIP to help entrepreneurs, writers and creators who want to stand out and do something unique or one of a kind. It will help them do what they are really passionate about and get paid well enough to live the good life.
Contact me if that’s you and be first on the list to know more. And if that’s not you, but you want to make better progress on your book, business or project, contact me anyway. I offer other things to fit different budgets.
Are you ever scared of rejection? I am!! All the time! And yet I don’t let it stop me.
Recently I watched a Youtube video from “How to ADHD” on ADHD and rejection sensitivity. (It’s here)
I work with a lot of people who have ADHD and besides that I have a lot of friends in this boat, too. I refuse to stand by and allow other people to feel discouraged about something that is totally normal and to have any doubt that they are capable.
If you have a desire to write or create, fear of rejection can seriously get in the way. Here are some examples of how:
It can cause you to not work on the book you’ve been meaning to write.
A lot of people don’t even realize that they are blocked by a fear of writing the wrong thing and being rejected, or not writing well enough. But it’s super common! I struggled with that for sure and my clients have, too. You can get over this.
It can cause you to have stops and starts on your business.
Not all people are not all a fit for what you offer right now and that can feel really awkward. I for one am so sensitive that little things can let me know someone is not a fit, which can be very discouraging. I know I’m not alone, so for you: Keep going.
Do I have ADHD?
That said, I wonder if I have ADHD myself this rejection sensitivity (one possible symptom) is something I have struggled with my whole life!
Fear of rejection is something I have only recently been aware of as a pattern of mine.
I can see how it has made life difficult and my goals more difficult as well—perhaps that is why it has been so key for me to receive support all along the way to publish my book and run my business.
AND YET:
-I have heard ‘no’ a lot of times in my business over the last 9 years, and I’m proud to say I’m still here!
-Despite the fear of rejection, I’m also the proud author of my book Freedom Year, magazine articles, and chapters in multiple books.
-And I recorded a single of my original song New Dawn after years of stage fright that would take my voice away.
I’m still pursuing my dreams despite being sensitive to rejection—
If you need more support, definitely reach out, I’d be happy to help you find ways to make progress being your full mermaid self through your book, business or artform. Click here to contact me.
But here’s some more things that helped me be REJECTION PROOF:
*Journaling or recording myself out loud—Connecting to my thoughts and feelings helps me put myself at the center of my life, not prioritizing other people’s reactions over myself.
*Having a driving passion— When I’m reconnecting to myself, eventually I remember my passion to keep creating and serving. It feels so good to connect to people, which means putting myself out there.
*Knowing that although something feels like rejection, it doesn’t mean it really is—Included in that video on youtube was this tip. It’s easy to take things as a personal rejection, but often you can perceive it another way entirely.
Contact me for support if you are committed to overcoming any fears in the way of your desire to write or create for your book, business or other project. You got this!
I’m putting on 2 livestreams this week to combat fear of rejection.
9 AM CST
Monday: Overcome fears to share your stuff more as a writer or creator
Wednesday: Overcome fears to sell your stuff as a creator or entrepreneur
Last week I began pondering some questions that brought some new ideas.
Have you ever thought about your zone of genius?
I’m rereading the book, “The Big Leap” by Gay Hendricks, which is a really awesome book.
He talks about the zone of genius, which is the place where you can truly come alive and use your gifts to the max–
and it isn’t just something you are good or competent at.
It isn’t even something that you are excellent at.
We are talking GENIUS level stuff here. It is like your superpower.
I’ve always been fascinated with helping people to tap into their genius to write and create for books, businesses and more.
It’s part of what I call tapping into the power of your inner mermaid.
But these questions have me pondering it all in a new way.
I promised to send these questions to help you identify your zone of genius during the live event I hosted last week.
(The event was great BTW! If you missed it, no worries we will have another free workshop next month.
It’ll be on the topic of “What to do when other people stress you out.
My workshop collaborator uses dance therapy techniques to help you know how to deal with them!)
Back to the Zone of Genius questions—
You can ponder them or write them out.
Check out the book “The Big Leap” by Gay Hendricks if you want to go deeper. (That’s where these are from)
Questions:
1. I’m at my best when I’m….
2. When I’m at my best, the exact thing I’m doing is….
3. When I’m doing that, the thing I love most about it is…..
The author says sometimes this is a state of being that you get into when you are doing things in your zone of genius.
When I pondered this I started realizing I love the discovery of new things.
DISCOVERY
I love discovering the next steps for a project WITH my clients, and helping them to have realizations–or we come up with things together on a call.
It’s one of the reasons I’m drawn to the creative, unique client work that doesn’t have a “one-size-fit-all-solution.” If it did, there would be nothing to discover!
And I love what happens when I start pulling the thread and following my intuition, my fascination, and seeing where I end up.
Hope you enjoy these little questions to help you connect to your super powers.
And if you missed last week’s free hangout/ workshop, don’t worry there will be another free event next month on “What to do when other people stress you out”.
My workshop collaborator uses dance therapy techniques to help you know how to deal with people! Stay tuned for the details.
I want to share this live video I did last week in case you missed it!
I talk about tapping into the information you cannot find in a book, that can help you to make difficult decisions in your life, business, book, and so on.
I feel like in life we have a couple of options for how we want to create our experience:
Which do you choose?
Me? I’m gonna have some fun…
I’m still considering this a winter hibernation period, but the snow is melting just a little bit and I’m beginning to think about what the next season of my life will bring.
How are you doing? Feel free to hit reply and let me know what you are cooking up this next season.
And remember:
doing = being
You don’t have to be focused on producing something like a book, or business to have a good season ahead of you!
You get to pick the focus that is most important to you in your life.
Your inner wisdom–that I like to call your inner mermaid!–will help you select the right orientation for YOU.
We are still doing an easy-breezy habit challenge in my free facebook group today and all of next week!
