Today I’m feeling extra grateful for this cute man.

We emptied our apartment, we ate dinner on a cardboard box, we unraveled just like our lives, we had various miscommunications while traveling, and we are still here.

We are together, making our way slowly back to the USA.

And we are in love.

What about you? What tops your gratitude list today?

My mantras as I move from Japan to the USA (again!!)

They are how I managed to finish writing the outline for five chapters of a book in my fantasy series, Blood Witch yesterday.

While moving! This is epic.

I have moved internationally 2 other times this pandemic (yeah my life is cray) Anyway, this is the first time I speed full steam ahead with my writing during move out week!!

The other times I had to pause or slow down.

But these mantras help a LOT to get stuff done no matter what.

Working under a deadline like my move out date…it is always a good reminder that done is better than perfect

Who could use that reminder? I would totally love some company on this path! I’m just sitting on my buns taking a break moving and making my fiance do stuff

Social media especially can be so polished and perfection-y. Call me weird but I like life a little messy and real.

So come join my club!”Team Done is better than perfect”

AKA “Team I did stuff today and wasn’t paralyzed by perfectionism.”
Bonus points: tag a friend to join us on the journey of

Let me know in the comments if you want to join my unofficial club of messy people who finish things!

Or join my newsletter to get all my messy, but inspiring ravings.

Scary things can be an exciting adventure

So many people take a long time on this one.

Fear is debilitating. It works in funny ways.

It slows you down. It makes you doubt yourself.

Keep going.

I know it is possible.🤗

I beat the fear to:

-get on stage and sing despite stage fright
-start my own business and say goodbye to a 9 to 5

The way I got through my anxiety is by investing in the support I need.

I got coaches, courses, counselors, teachers, guides, a master’s…

Over time, I started to savor the adventure. Fear can be exciting.

An adventure worth having 🌟

Just make it more fun by getting the support you need. Believe in yourself!

I never want to forget the biggest thing I have learned in Japan.

It is essential as a sensitive writer, creator, and entrepreneur.

SPACE.

When I got to Japan July 2018, everyone I knew in my real life and online was asleep, while I was awake and active.

Gradually, I stopped reaching for my phone.

I wasn’t as interested in the content that used to flood my nervous system with constant updates. I stopped feeling pressured to respond to emails or post online because no one would see anything I wrote or created until night anyway. It was so liberating!!!

Maybe it is no surprise my life has changed in many ways since then.

-publishing my memoir Freedom Year and starting a 5 book fiction series, up leveling my writing career.

-investing in professional recording as a musician for the first time, for my song New Dawn now on Spotify and other places.

-beginning a beautiful, healthy relationship and getting engaged.

SPACE helped me hear all my own nonsense thoughts. By working through it I came to value myself and my talents more than I did before. I do not think as negatively as before about my potential or my trajectory.

I hear wisdom, my needs and wants. Now my time goes to my passions first. I finally stopped discounting my dreams even the ones that seem crazy to other people.

I got space. These lessons are important so they are now a part of the support I offer in the Psychic Mermaid Mastermind.

I don’t know if you know this about me…

May be an image of text that says 'IT CAN BE FUN @SofiaWrenCoaching @SofiaWrenCoaching'

I don’t know if you know this about me…
But I can get very intense.
Maybe you can relate to having two sides, like a mermaid is half human and half fish.

There are two sides to me, too.

-Ponderous me that cares a lot about doing a great job at everything and sorting it all out the right way. Phew, it is hard work.

-Easy-going me that is all, “no worries, it will work out. The universe has my back. It will all be fab. Let’s just relax and be happy and in flow.

“Lately, I have been feeling the intensity a bit and I have been dragging energy-wise.

I am trying this new thing, though, where I am really careful about pushing myself too hard.

But it is still new for me, and I am not all the way used to it. So I still feel kind of intense

Like maybe I am doing something wrong by just taking in all the good going on and not dwelling on worries.

Today I was talking to this amazing man named Ariefa.

I help him with his nonprofit as a volunteer because it is a dream of mine to effect people globally and he helps women and girls in Sierra Leone overcome a culture sexual exploitation.

We were talking about a future event to build support, and he started saying how it could all be fun.

Yes, it is serious stuff, keeping women safe so they don’t have to sell their body for water or basic needs.

But it can be fun.”It’s fun to make a difference, to do things to create change, to talk to our representatives,” he said.

This is something I remind myself when I am stressed.

It’s fun to decide where you are going to live when you don’t have a set destination.

It’s fun to run a business and discover what to do next.

It’s fun to sell stuff online and see who is interested.

It’s fun to write a book.

And my project the Psychic Mermaid Mastermind is fun and impactful.

It is designed to tap into a powerful spiritual energy and power to create from a place of feeling good.

Use your voice.
Belong in a community.
Dance with the energy.
Surrender to your purpose.
Create in a way that is an exciting, discover your book or business as it wants to flow.

Let it all come together naturally.

It can be fun.

Just remember.

Send me a message to be a mermaid, too.

Wow if I only knew it was that easy

I wrote the post below last June when I was on the verge of leaving Japan, with no idea what the future would bring. “Sometimes when the moment is right, I decide things. I won’t know how, but I will decide something will be created, sometimes by a certain day. And when it magically happens, I smile. It’s happened many times already. Recently I saw this cute Pikachu in a second hand shop with a witch hat on it. It cost about $5. It’s perfect for me. It is too big to put in a suitcase and I am supposed to return to America in July, but my boyfriend Andrew said I could keep it at his house in Japan until I return. I’ve decided I will return and I don’t know how or when. But I will. So I bought the Pikachu. And I’m keeping the boy. We are going to figure it all out. That’s what being creative is. Decide what you want to create. Make the decision. And then when it’s time, you will figure it out. You can’t always see the how right now, but keep your eyes ready, it just might show up.”

WHEW!

That is some hot wisdom right there. And look what happened–I ended up wriggling my way back into Japan. All that with no visa, in the middle of COVID, two days before restrictions made the country’s borders absolutely impenetrable. I really lucked out. So there you go–I didn’t know how I would get back into Japan when I decided I would return. It sure was tricky, but I did it !It’s one example of my big message to you.

JUST DECIDE.

Now is the time to decide to start a new chapter.

If you are ready for a change, consider the Psychic Mermaid Mastermind.

This belief could change your life

THIS BELIEF COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

Dramatic?
Perhaps.

But in my most successful clients, I’ve seen them adopt this one major belief: I belong here.

The reason why this shift is so powerful is because the crazy-cool but unique people that I work with often feel really different.

Being different is actually your super power because it makes you stand out as anything you want to be: a creator, a writer, an entrepreneur, an artist, etc.

No one is like you, so you stand out. But sometimes standing out doesn’t feel so good.

Believe me, I get how scary that can be and I can empathize a LOT.

But when you decide that you belong here, and really own that, a lot of things in your life start changing.

What changes? Well, you show up and put yourself out there more. You hide less.

You do things for the right reasons because you don’t have to prove anything to feel like you will be accepted. You know there is a place for whatever you want to create.

You know you ARE an artist, a musician, a successful business owner, an author–whatever you want to be.

When someone disagrees or you don’t immediately get a lot of positive feedback on something you are working on, you stop taking it so hard.

You can navigate feedback more easily and know when to take advice or when to stand your ground.

You get more done as a result and get farther along because you don’t stop and start as much.

You have more clarity. You hear your intuition stronger. And you’re more successful as a result! You also end up attracting more people who really GET you.

And that belief that you belong? You continually notice more evidence of that.

This whole experience is why I love creating groups to help people feel supported, accepted, and all the benefits of feeling confident you belong *even faster*.

My latest group is called the Psychic Mermaid Mastermind!

For empaths and sensitive people who want to:

  • make faster progress writing and creating for their book or business,
  • get their message out there to the world in an authentic way
  • be more psychic, more in tune with the way you feel when you are in the water (even when you are outside of it)
  • reach the people who GET you, who need your message, and who will want to invest in more from them after reading.

The mastermind is a place to share their intuitive abilities and skills with each other, and uplevel their lives, business, and creative projects (books)–like a magical dolphin pod! Together we are stronger!

Be more intuitive so you always know what to do next.

Use experiences with the Psychic Mermaid Mastermind to create big changes in your life.

What do you think – are you ready to be my next most successful client?

Send me message. Let’s chat!

This is it!

This is the story about me getting into Japan to reunite with my fiance!

(Which I never actually told.)

Parts of it involve me taking some pretty big risks so it’s been a little bit secret…

Recap: I taught abroad in Japan 2019-2020.

That’s when I started dating Andrew.

When I was due to leave Japan March 2020, everything was shutting down in the USA and abroad.

I chose to stay with Andrew versus go home, but my visa ran out in July, so I felt I had to go.

Then after being back in the states for only six months, I ended up feeling called to go back to Japan.

Now I’ve been listening to my intuition and following it for a long time, even it leads me to do something nuts.

But this was a new level of wild.

  • I had my walls painted.
  • I didn’t have a visa.
  • I liked my roomies.
  • it was a pandemic.
  • I had furniture.
  • I was comfy.

But life had other plans.

I hadn’t seen my fiance in six months–we got engaged over zoom–and it was killing me.

It was a 13-14 hour time difference…

Yeah, it really sucked but Japan’s borders were 100% closed. Neither of us could travel to the other.

Anyway, in November some of Japan’s policies changed.

It looked like an opportunity opened up to end the long distance.

I didn’t have a visa, but if I did 2 weeks of quarantine in Korea and then went to Japan, it appeared to be a loophole.

There was no knowing when we’d see each other if I didn’t go ASAP before travel rules shifted–as they keep doing with COVID.

It was a huge risk, because what if they didn’t let me in the country?

My intuition felt like life burning in my belly.

I had to try but it wasn’t easy.

The first step was putting in my notice on my apartment.

That caused some drama because my roommates hadn’t understood me saying that I’d be moving out.

Whoops, had to clean that up.

Then I was told I would still have to pay 3-6 months of rent if they didn’t find a replacement renter for the empty apartment.

Weeks went by. They didn’t find one.

Still, I felt I must go on. If the worst happened, we’d figure it out.

I boxed everything up or gave it away (again).

Prepped my car for sale.

Said my goodbyes.

On the eve of leaving, my fiance called me panicked.

He’d called around to some immigration officials in Japan and they were negative about my chances of entry.

“No exceptions,” they said, although we’d had multiple officials tell me the opposite.

“So what do you want to do?” my fiance asked me.

He was stressed.

The week before this, I’d made a podcast on the topic of Travel Magic.

It was a story from when I was 22 and had the urge to jump on a plane after officials told me not to.

(Spoiler: that time it worked out for me.)

The fact that I had felt called to record that story felt like a sign to take a leap.

Also, I’d already moved almost everything and found a potential renter, even though it wasn’t 100% solid yet.

So I was like–“I’m done here. I’m going.”

It was my shot and I was taking it.

Two weeks later, I finished my quarantine in Korea.

I showed up at the airport ready to go to Japan and they almost didn’t let me on the plane since I had no visa.

But then they got word they could let me on anyway–and they’d decide my fate in Japan.

When I arrived in Japan, I was nervous but my intuition whispered that it would all be okay.

I began to wait in the airport for what would be 5 hours.

After some conversations with people who were totally confused by my presence, I just sat there, with it all out of my control.

My fiance sat waiting in one part of the airport, I sat in another.

They interviewed him in Japanese to see if I should be allowed to stay.

At times, I was anxious.

No one wants to be wrong–if I didn’t get into the country I’d look pretty stupid.

But mostly I just wanted to see my fiance again.

It was comforting we could text and call each other as we waited–as much as I could while trying to conserve my phone battery.

At least we were in the same timezone. I felt close to him that way.

He didn’t tell me how negative his interviewer seemed to be about my prospects.

But I knew what the stakes were.

Still, something shifted inside of me as the authorities decided what to do with me.

I was thirsty, and had a lot on the line–but even then, I got into a deeply grateful and loving space.

I felt so grateful to be in Japan at all.

I felt so happy to be close to my fiance.

I felt moved to be on the land of Japan at all–what a blessing.

And I felt like there was spiritual energy that wanted me to be here, even if it ended up being for just a short time.

Something was alchemizing: me, Japan, love… the feeling was extraordinary.

About half an hour went by while I was blissed out and peaceful.

Then they called me up and handed me my passport back–with a 3 month visa stuck inside.

They ended up letting me in.

Wahoo!!!!

We reunited on the other side of the immigration gate and he said, “This feels unreal.”

And we got to hug finally!

Yay!! It all turned out okay!

Thank you, Japan for letting me stay!

(Even though I am very bad and came with no visa!)

I’m so happy to be able to spend this time in Japan even if I can’t travel a whole lot.

There is a deep peace I feel when I connect to the land here, even just being in my little town.

In my life in this country the past few years, I’ve struggled a lot but the lessons I’ve learned have been worth it.

The most profound moments have come from connecting to the land of Japan, itself.

It has helped me to come into a deeper alignment with my true self, and know what is really important.

Since then, I have made big dreams happen:

  • Publishing my book Freedom Year,
  • Falling in love with someone who fits me,
  • Professionally recording my original song “New Dawn”

Through this whole experience, I have let my intuition guide me.

It led me back to my power, back to myself, back to my writing and creativity.

And now I want to help you!
