Just today, I am opening the doors to let more people read what I have been working on, my book Freedom. I want to tell you why sharing with others is so important, and also give you an opportunity to enjoy a free preview of the book.
This moment of sharing is what I call “closing the loop.” I actually got the phrase about a month ago talking to my uncle who is an editor and a poet. He was saying how something changes, not just when you publish writing but when you know people are reading it. Even reading something out loud in front of people can get that affect, or having the feedback that yes, it was heard. Then you are more inspired or you get good feedback and you can start back fresh with the writing process again with more energy.
I instantly was grateful for this phrase to put something intangible into words. This topic of closing the loop is so important, I will be discussing it in my upcoming presentation at the On Purpose Woman Conference!! Very excited for that talk on “Why Your Writing is Not Done Yet.” If you are in the Maryland area I hope you can come join us there.
I see a lot of people get stuck in this part of the creative process— something goes wrong here when they try to share or maybe they just can’t bring themselves to do it because the project isn’t “done” enough yet. Regardless of what goes wrong, those writers often end up having a serious decline in productivity and are missing out on all the yummy feelings that come up when your work has been heard and loved by another person. If we can close the loop successfully, we will make faster progress in a short amount of time.
It’s a journey.
I’m happy to say that after closing the loop behind the scenes with my Freedom test readers and editors over the last three years, I am now opening the work up to an even wider, more public, audience. It is time for me to share more of my book Freedom with the world. Soon it will be published, so I’ve decided to give away the first few chapters so you can read and get a taste of my style.
So if you haven’t already signed up to get information about Freedom, you can sign up here to get sample chapters for free, right here.
I hope that this email inspires you to make steps towards closing the loop in your own work and creativity, whether you are a writer or not. It’s time to make a move towards sharing your dreams with other people. If you need a safe space to do so, you can always contact me for a discussion around your goals and challenges making progress and sharing your work with people.
